This is part of the massive first-phase of the eventual $4 billion expansion?project.?
When Sept. 15 rolls around, all passengers will come through the central terminal to board flights.?
Delta gates will make up concourse A. Until concourse B opens in October, all other flights will use a bridge connecting the new terminal to the preexisting gates.?
Bill Wyatt with the airport says all their hard work if finally paying off.?
"I'm pleased to say again that we are on time and budget for this phase we've redesigned," Wyatt said.?
We've redesigned the second phase in a way that allows us to open two years sooner than we had expected originally and save up to $300 million on the final project cost.
Passengers will get to enjoy major art installations by Gordon Huether as they move about the airport.?
“The prime objective from the start was to celebrate the natural beauty of Utah in a fully architecturally, integrated art program. The big idea is to blur the lines between art and architecture," Huether stated in a press release. “If there was ever a time that art mattered, where art should transport you to a higher place, where art could unite us in inspiration, nature and beauty, this is that time."
The entire project is set to be completed in 2024.?
